St. Pius Elementary School prides itself in 21st century teaching and learning. Just as technology has become an integral component of classroom instruction, communication with members of the school community has become primarily through electronic means. The school uses an assortment of technological resources by which we communicate with students and their families.

RenWeb
Implemented in July of 2011, RenWeb is the main provider of intra-school communication between faculty, parents and students. RenWeb is a web-based portal that hosts general school information as well as classroom, team, club and organization-specific information. RenWeb provides families an opportunity to remain informed about daily, mission-based subject matter pertinent to their child(ren)'s education. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:

• Private, secure student-specific reports, such as homework assignments, daily grades and attendance.
• Class–specific subject matter, such as homework assignments, test dates, resources and photographs.
• Team, club and organization-specific material such as practice and game schedules, committee meetings, general announcements.
• General school information including calendar dates, school-wide announcements, information on special events, important documents including student handbook, policies and procedures, Safe Environment certification information and other important resource documents.
• Each family has its own access information so that the RenWeb experience is a customized one which features a family page/account.

Alert Now
The AlertNow automated telephone system allows the school to communicate with the entire school family in a matter of minutes by delivering a pre-recorded message to parents. This system is invaluable in case of emergency and in other areas when change must be communicated in a timely fashion, i.e. bus breakdowns, changes in school calendar, or delivery of important information from administration.

Anchor
The Anchor is a quarterly informational newsletter sent home to parents, and mailed to SPES business partners and supporters. The Anchor features articles about classroom lessons, school activities and functions, and other pertinent information pertaining to school life and the ways in which faculty, staff, students, and families continue to bring the presence of Christ to others.

"This Week at SPES" and "Cougar Spirit"
"This Week at SPES" and "Cougar Spirit" are weekly publications sent to parents on Friday afternoon which give a glimpse of activities for the upcoming week. The bulletin is prefaced with an inspirational and/or informative message from the principal and includes printable attachments of "This Week at SPES"(a calendar and announcement flyer) and "Cougar Spirit" (the athletic bulletin). A new addition to the weekly bulletin is the popular feature "Quote for the Week" which is a memorable student quote that has left an impression on a teacher or administrator. Quotes for the week are tiny pearls of wisdom from SPES students that have been overheard in class, in the halls of SPES, or on the playground.
