SPES Lower School Counselor's Corner

St. Pius Elementary School is blessed to have two school counselors who are able to get to know our children and work with them, their teachers and their families and help them grow both socially and emotionally.  Our goal at SPES is to be able to focus on our students, and meet their needs, in age-appropriate ways.  Having two school counselors, one for lower school and one for middle school, students have a counselor who focuses on the social-emotional growth of children their age. 

 

Mrs. Kim Frederick, better known to everyone at SPES as "Miss Kim," considers St. Pius Elementary School "home."  She taught Kindergarten at SPES for eight years before becoming a school counselor.  She has served the students of St. Pius as a counselor for the past fourteen years and helps to make the lives of those she deals with a little better each time she sees them.  Anyone who meets her can see that she loves what she does.  In fact, when asked what she loves most about her job recently, she replied, "Working with children every day, making their world a little brighter."  

 

In PreK - 3rd grades at SPES, students love seeing "Ms. Kim" throughout their school day.  In addition to teaching regular lessons in the lower school classrooms and meeting with students individually, Ms. Kim can be seen in the lunchroom, on the playgrounds and just about anywhere on campus where you see her PreK - 3rd grade students.   When planning for distance learning during our COVID-19 break in the regular school schedule, administrators knew that giving our younger students some sense of normalcy and routine would include seeing "Miss Kim" on a regular basis.  For this reason, Ms. Kim"has a link on the lower school students' class web pages that will be updated regularly. 

 

We want you to be able to have those updates that will include links to parent resources.  Each Sunday, at 4 p.m., Ms. Kim will update her link, and we will bring those updates that include resources for parents, to you via this page.
