October 17, 2022, was a historic moment for the SPES Athletic Program. The St. Pius 6th Grade Mighty Cougar Football Team achieved an undefeated season, winning the League Championship Game and becoming the First Place Team in the league in their first year of existence! Building on this legacy, our 7th and 8th grade Mighty Cougar Football Team triumphantly secured the League Champions title once again this year, a testament to their hard work and dedication.
In the last few years, our school’s athletic program has experienced remarkable growth, culminating in a year of incredible accomplishments in 2023. These achievements include:
The 7th and 8th grade football team securing the league championship title.
All eight of our basketball teams advanced to the semifinals this year. Our 5th grade girls' basketball team and our 7th grade boys' basketball team brought home championship titles.
Our track and field program achieved 2nd place finishes in the championship for both our 5th and 6th grade and 7th and 8th grade boys’ teams, where multiple students also set new school records.
The SPES swim team placed 2nd in multiple events in this year’s championship.
The Lady Cougar Volleyball Teams experienced great success.
Noteworthy performances by the SPES tennis team, with several competitors advancing to the semifinals and quarterfinals, and two team members receiving TEAM E Sportsmanship trophies.
The Cross Country Team saw athletes improve their personal best records.
Our SPES golf team saw outstanding success, clinching first place in the Acadiana Christian School League, with five of our golfers ranking in the top 15.
